I Draw. I Daydream.
by Mogu Takahashi
30 May – 28 Jun, 2025

Jacky Winter is pleased to present I Draw. I Daydream., a solo exhibition by Japanese artist Mogu Takahashi. Returning to Melbourne after a six years, Mogu’s new body of work embraces the playful naivety that first defined her practice.
“I moved into a larger studio so I could create bigger works for exhibitions and art fairs in cities around the world, but the more I painted, the more I found myself drawn to the simplicity I felt when I first began my life as an artist. I feel like I’m walking that path again now.
Playfulness and uniqueness are at the core of my creativity, and they come from my everyday life. I believe that will never change.”
As part of her trip, Mogu will undertake a two week artist residency, painting from Jacky Winter Gallery. During this time there will be select open hours allowing a unique insight into Mogu’s creative process as she transforms the gallery into a working studio, progressively installing her work little by little during her stay. In addition to her in-gallery work, Mogu hopes to create some off-site mural projects around the neighbourhood, extending her artistic presence into the community.
Mogu Takahashi is a self-taught Japanese artist based in Tokyo. She has held solo exhibitions in Japan, Paris, Barcelona, Melbourne, and Stockholm, and she has recently been active in many international art fairs. In 2017, she was selected by the Swedish government as one of five inspiring international artists and gave a speech at the Embassy of Sweden in Stockholm Her uniquely expressive world of art continues to reach people around the globe and bring them joy.
